Bookworm

Hello friends!! Back today with you to share a new layout...this one is a little outside the box for me. I used a few different items/elements that I wouldn't normally use, but I am SO in love with this layout, I think I need to step out of that comfort zone more often!

First though, I want to give you a little back story on the layout. This was taken over summer break, and it was a normal sight all summer long. Our oldest daughter is a true lover of books...most times you can find her with her nose right in the middle of a book, and I LOVE this! I am a reader ( well, I was before I had children! lol), and the fact that she is embracing that same love ( and our middle daughter is following right along in those footsteps behind her!!) just makes me excited! I am loving sharing with her books that I loved at that age, and am so looking forward to the time when I can read some of my classic favorites with her, and know that she will fall in love with and appreciate that world as much as I do/did!

I so wanted to share all of this in the journaling on this layout, but for some reason in that moment, the words just would not come to paper. Does that ever happen to you??

When collecting supplies for this layout, I was rifling through my stash, looking for an old book that I knew I had somewhere..I found it, and by a happy accident, saw this along the spine, where I had tore pages out previously. I LOVED the look, and knew it would be perfect for this layout, not only in theme, but to add dimension and texture.

I had received the chipboard from the "I am" collection from Simple Stories in a Gossamer Blue kit, I had had it for quite awhile, and not used anything but the smaller elements. Again, this was the perfect layout to put some of those to use. I loved that there was a stack of books, and to me the globe just made sense. These are items that I would never normally use...I don't even buy chipboard often, but I really had fun incorporating these onto my layout.

I had this bookplate from the ephemera from a Maggie Holmes collection, and I thought it would be a fun embellishment, and I was able to fill it with some of that pink/red paper to bring that over to the left of the layout. Some simple, messy stamping, and a few ink splatters later, this one is done and in the books. LOVE the way it turned out, and that I was able to stretch my creativity and open up to using some unusual ( for me) items!

I am linking this layout up to Paper Issues and their new Fan-atics challenge, because this girl is one of the biggest book fans I have ever met...she might even give my old self a run for the money! ;)

Details for the linky part are here! :)

Full of Happiness

Hello friends!! I don't know what has caught your eye with some of the newer collections coming out, but one of my favorites by far was Cedar Lane from Pink Paislee! I loved this one from day one, and as soon as Paper Issues had it in stock, I ordered up pretty much every piece of it...and this past weekend, I went on a retreat, and was able to cut into it, and create a layout that I absolutely love!

That text paper was just screaming to be fussy cut, and I really wanted to play with some watercolors that I had picked up. Its a little out of the norm for me, but I am so in love with the way it turned out. Those acetate arrows from the ephemera pack were too cute, and I added a fun touch!

I wanted to keep the photo layers light, but I really wanted to add in some more of that fun ephemera/ A mix of those and some of the washi tape, made for a simple layered look.

Look at those leaves! Gorgeous! I am linking this up to the newest issue at Paper Issues " How Bout Them Apples"

Thanks for stopping in today, have a good one, and take time to create something you love.

This Moment

Hi all! Happy Tuesday! We had a long weekend this past weekend, and I tell you, it was hard to get up and get the kiddos going this morning! lol. I think the hubby was the hardest one to get up out of bed though! lol. This week is going to be rushed, rushed,  rushed with activities, so we needed that long weekend. Ready to get back on schedule though!

I am hopping on today to share a cute little card I made for the new challenge over at Whimsical Twist. Our theme this time around is all about Chalkboards!! There are so many new products popping up utilizing this trend, and we want to see how YOU use it to create something fun that you love!

Now, you all know that I am not much of a card maker, but I just couldn't get motivated with the current chalkboard supplies I had to make a layout. So I sat down to try and put this together, and I actually really like it. Its pretty basic, and simple, but that 's ok with me!

I really wanted to use this My Mind's Eye frame, I loved the sentiment "This is the life" but the open space in the middle was driving me crazy. So I fussy cut a few elements from some of the new Teresa Collins, which is mainly what I used on this layout, actually everything except the frame, lol. I layered them up, and built on that frame, for both design and title. I love the finished title...I read it as  This Moment Together...this is the life. It just makes me happy, and I think I am going to give it to my hubby for a nice little surprise. :)

So, make sure head over to the Whimsical Twist blog, check out the rest of the design team inspiration, and play along for your chance at an awesome prize!!

While you are there, check out the shop! Lots of new goodies are in stock, and there is a sale going on until Sept 30...25% off your entire purchase!! Also don't forget pre orders are available for many new lines coming out...I know I already have all mine ordered!

Hope you all have a great day, and take time to create something you love!! :)

Summer Fun

Hi all!! Happy Saturday!! I am hopping on real quick to share another layout from the Summer Camp with Noel Mignon!

This one was the "Trail Mix" challenge, and it was basically a recipe challenge. We were given a list of items that we had to use on our layout.

Ever since I got this Elle's Studio paper, I had this idea in my mind. This challenge was just the push to finally get it to paper. Love the final product!! :)

Keeping it pretty short and sweet today, heading out for some adventures with the family! :)

Have a great weekend, and take time to create something you love!

Project 12: July Edition

Hi all!! Here today to share with you my monthly Project Life spread.

I had fun this month, using some of the challenges over at the Noel Mignon summer camp on these spreads.

This first layout, I used the "Basket Weaving" challenge. I have always liked the look of the paper weaving, but have never gave it a try myself, so this was a fun push to give it a try. Of course, right about now was when I ran out of adhesive, of course! So I used my tiny attatcher and decided to go for a more "messy" weave! I totally love how it turned out, the original plan was to use it as a mat for a photo, I ended up loving it so much, I just used it as a filler card.

On the second page, I decided to use the "Nature Hike" challenge, which was to use an element of nature on your layout. I had this awesome picture of the girls fishing that I was planning on putting on here. So, I decided I'd get a little twig from out in the yard, tie it up with some fishing line, and have a cute little fishing pole embellishment...of course I didn't take into consideration that fact that fishing line is clear. So, it basically looks like I just glued a random twig onto the page, lol, but live and learn right. Its still a cute idea, and you can tell in person, so its staying!

I am still having so much fun playing along over there, we are out this weekend, but I'm hoping I can finish up and get the remaining challenges in by the deadline on Monday!

Hope you all have a great weekend, and take time to create something you love!!

Hi all!! Happy Tuesday! Today is our last day of "freedom", before school starts up tomorrow...and wouldn't you know its a cloudy, rainy day here! So the girls are spending it relaxing and watching movies. I'm back and forth between them, the little guy, and my scrap room! :)

I am playing along with the Summer Camp challenge over at the NoelMignon facebook group! There are tons of prizes and fun challenges. Hoping I get all of them finished as there are some guest designer spots! That would be all kinds of awesome! :)

So here is the first layout I have completed...I goes with Veronica's "S'mores" layers challenge!

My little guy has a love of pulling my hair to go to sleep, so that's what this page is all about. :)

Off to enjoy those girls some more today, and a dreaded trip to Wal Mart! lol

Mister Mister

Hi all!! Happy Saturday!! Its been a crazy week around here, our oldest has been hit by that nasty flu bug and has been out of school all week. I think its finally about run its course though, now just hope no one else catches it.

I did manage to get in a little crafty time late last night, after all the kiddos got to bed...and I was so glad I did! I really wanted to play along with the Gossamer Blue & Elle's Studio scraplift challenge.
The minute I saw this layout by Megan, I loved it, so it was the natural choice for my scraplift!

Here is my take on her layout...using a mix of  the March kits from Gossamer Blue.

It's definitely different from my normal style, but I really liked playing around with it, and giving something new a try. I kept it very close to her layout, just a few changes here and there..I used pen stitching, since I still haven't figured out my sewing machine! lol. Then I added in some veneer and enamel dots, washi and some other go to's for me.

All in all, a very different but cute layout...definitely more "boy" than the last layout I did! lol.

Thanks for stopping by, and hope you all take time to create something you love! :)

Motivation and Time

I have a layout today!! I finally got not only the time to scrap, but the motivation to actually get everything out and do a layout instead of take a nap! lol. I didn't realize how much I had missed it, that time for just me, to get all crafty and unwind! Really, really hope today wasn't just a fluke, and that I actually get to work on more layouts SOON! :)

Studio Calico is doing this awesome contest along with the Create blog, they are giving away a 6 month subscription, so when I saw that, it definitely helped to push me a little to try and get a layout, or maybe even 2 turned in, since I not only love their products, but would love to get their kits...and since the hubby is not on board with that quite yet, I had to give this a go.

Anyhoo, here is the layout that I am turning in for the contest. I used one of my favorite collections of theirs "Hey Day" on this layout, almost exclusively...there are a few other misc. embellies thrown in.

A quick back story on this layout, my middle daughter, Katlyn, is a lover of music. It doesn't matter what it is, she will sing and shake her booty to it. She changes her favorite songs fairly often, but this one here has been her favorite since she heard it from the first time....and something about it, even before she loved it, always reminded me of her....mainly the chorus, cause if you listen to the rest of it, it in no way speaks of a sweet little 4 year old. lol. I was lucky enough one day to snap this picture, and I immediately knew that that chorus was going to be the title. :)

( Just noticed my typo on there...still love the layout, lol, will just have to try and figure a way to cover/fix that...suggestions would be welcome! :))

I loved having this challenge, it really helped get that mojo going. So if any of you know of any other fun challenge blogs out there, leave me a link in the comments. I feel like I have been out of the loop for awhile and I'm not sure what's out there anymore! :)

Hope you all have a fabulous day! Take time to create something you love!

YourScrapbookStash Scraplift!

YourScrapbookStash.com is having a scraplift contest this week. We were to choose one layout from a member of the DT's July gallery. This store has some serious talent on their DT!! I had a really hard time deciding which layout to lift!! Until I stumbled across Jennie McGarvey's layout, which you can see here, I knew it was the one! It was perfect for these photos I had laying around of Miss E from her first "real" haircut.

Here is my take on Jennie's layout. I didn't really change anything, I love it the way it was. :)

Lots of MME on here...I love that Fine & Dandy collection! Also mixed in a little Echo Park and Nikki Sivils.

I really love the design of this layout....I can see myself definitely using this one again!

If you want to play along with the challenge, they have extended the deadline to this Friday, August 5th! You can get the details here.

Oh! AND I made it to 50 friends!! I said I would have a giveaway when I hit that mark...I am thinking I might mix it up a little bit and make it a challenge though....hmmmm...more to come on that later this week!! ;)

Hope everyone has a blessed week!!

~Amanda
