Halloween in...July

Hello friends!! I'm sure you have all heard of Christmas in July...but have you heard of Halloween in July?? That's the theme of my layout today! I was going through photos, trying to get "caught up", and found these from Halloween 2013, and decided it was time to get them scrapped.

I knew I wanted to play on some of the "traditional" Halloween I went with orange, green, and black..with a little gray thrown in for good measure. I had a lot of fun digging through my stash on this one.

I have found that when it comes time to purge out some supplies, I have no trouble getting rid of patterned papers, embellishments are another story..I hold on to them FOREVER!! So for this layout, I wanted to challenge myself to use some of those embellies that have been laying around, and make them work for what I needed!
I started with pulling these goodies out:

The flair were the perfect color, and I really wanted to get some circular elements onto this page...the sentiments/designs on the flair however, were not what I needed for this. So I grabbed some stickers, and went to work...very simple changes, but with a little tweaking, I was able to finally use up some of my stash, while making custom embellishments that were perfect for my layout. Here are some pics of the finished flair:

Thanks for stopping in on the lookout for a fun announcement coming soon!!

A boy..

There once was a adorably sweet little boy...who like to snuggle in his sleep..with both his mommy...and his favorite monster truck! ;)

Our little guy LOVES his trucks, this photo was taken a year ago, and he still loves those trucks just as much today as he did then...maybe even more, lol, as now there are several in the bed along with him.

So, of course, this photo had to be documented!!

I found this fun paper line in at my local store, and knew it was perfect. I don't normally use theme-y type papers, but I couldn't resist this one!

Givin' it a try

Hello friends!! We have been stuck in most of this week, so I have had a chance to get in a little crafty time! Yay!! :) Today I am going to share a layout that is a little out of the norm for me...I decided to give the mixed media craze a try! I was inspired by Ms. Ashley Horton and her fun new video series " Zoned Out" ( here is a link to her layout and video that inspired me!).
I didn't go too crazy with the techniques...I thought I'd gradually work my way up, but I did have a lot of fun with this, doing a few things I wouldn't normally do, and I really am happy with the finished layout.

I just noticed how horribly uneven that mat is around my layout! Oh well, lol..its close enough! For the background on this, I used the spray mist on the plastic technique, and then just dabbed it around on the layout. It was fun, and a different way to use the mists, I think I will go back to this again! Then I went in with some navy color shine, and did some sprinkles. After assembling the layout, I felt like it needed a little something taking some navy ink and some fun geometric shapes, I did some uneven stamping. I really love the way that turned out!

This was a fun way to stretch out my creativity, and use some supplies in a different way! Its fun to try something new every once in awhile, and I just want to give another shout out and thanks to Ashley for the push in a new direction! Can't wait to see what she has in store for the next video in her series!!

Have a great day, and take time to create something you love!

Happy Hump day! A few weeks back some friends and I got together for a crop day. It was such a fun, and laid back time...I even managed to get one and a half layouts done in the 5 hours we were there! lol.

I am going to share one of them with you today. I created this one with the intention of linking up to the current ( at that time) issue at Paper was something about stars. I, obviously, missed that date, lol, but still finished with a layout that I love!

I love this die cut background paper from KI Memories...and knew it was perfect for this page. I wanted to stars to still be open, and really make a statement, so instead of using another patterned paper or cardstock, I backed it with this acetate sheet from Webster's Pages...Love the look...even though I wasn't really sure how to photograph it!
Here's a close up that gives a better idea, that woodgrain is my from deck ( or my photo spot! lol)

Ahh...look at those cuties!! ;) And that tree...I hope it's always there, it has been such a huge part of our lives, and capturing all those first and other special shots like this one! Do any of you have a special spot that is always a go to for these type of photos?? :)

Have a good one, and take time to create something you love!!

Lost it all...again

Hello crafty friends!! It's been awhile, but we are now officially on our summer break, so I am hoping to get back on the blogging train and share some of the things I have been working on....First off, I want to apologize for again losing all of my images. Not sure exactly what is going on there, somehow I synced everything to my phone, and when I delete an image off of my photo gallery, it deletes it from here also! I have been trying to get it unsynced, but so far I am not having any luck.

I do have a new layout to share today though, and I promise this one will stick around! :)

This one I wanted to keep simple, I love this photo of our oldest daughter, and when I saw this "wild & free" card from the Gossamer Blue life pages kit, I knew it was perfect. With the photo being black and white, I wanted to keep everything soft on this page, I loved this color scheme that came together.

I have to say, this is probably one of my new excited to be getting back into the groove!

Take time to create something you love!

CanvasPop Review and Giveaway!!!

Hello friends! A few weeks back, I was contacted by Liam from CanvasPop, an online canvas printing company, about doing a product review. I have not had the best of luck with canvas printing in the past, so I was a little reluctant, but I am SO glad that I gave it a go.

First off, let me start with their quality of customer service, to me this is a HUGE factor in how I feel about a product. It can be the most beautiful, wonderfully made, delicious thing ever, and if I am treated badly, or my questions are not answered, I am done. So not the case with CanvasPop. In fact, as I had the site pulled up to get info from for this post, and it was sitting for awhile, the popped on and asked if there was any help needed. Very polite, courteous, and friendly.

Second, I want to talk about the ease of their site. So easy to navigate, very user friendly. All of your options are laid out easy for you to find, and its not a lot of hassle. I have had other places where I am wanting prints, and spend a half hour or more trying to get everything uploaded and ordered, not the case with CanvasPop, quick and easy!

Now, onto the canvas itself. The quality in one word AMAZING! I was more than impressed with how crisp the image past experiences, my canvas prints have never been up to par. I was always disappointed in how they looked like the print was just laid on top of the canvas, and not an actual part of it...I have even been able to peel the print off the top of the canvas before. Not the case with CanvasPop, this image is crisp and clear with a great resolution.

I also really loved how well it was framed. The edges were all attached tightly, and I had no fear of it coming loose ( something I had also have happen in the past). They hardware to hang the frame is included, attached to the back in a nice easy to see bag, and the wire to hang it with, is not some flimsy florist or jewelry wire. It is a sturdy heavy weight wire.

I am going to link you up to their why us section on the website here, because they are so clear and open about their procedures and their value in what they do. They do such a great job of letting the consumer see the pride they take in their product! You can check out their "Why Us" section here.

Next, I want to share a few photos of the canvas they sent me.

Loved how clear everything came through on this! I have several prints of this photo, and never noticed our little guy's monster truck in the background until this canvas. Love how the didn't skimp any on quality and detail!

I really appreciate how easy they make the hardware to access, and how thick and sturdy the hanging wire is.

Loved this!

I will definitely be going to CanvasPop for all of my future canvas purchases...which, after the quality of this one, I feel will increase significantly!

Then to sweeten the deal even more, CanvasPop has given me a discount code to share with all of you!

They are offering a 35% discount for your entire order at To redeem the discount, simply enter code RS35 at checkout. This code is good until April 30, 2015!

Best Summer Ever

Hello friends! I have another Gossamer Blue layout to share with you today! For this layout, I wanted to focus on the more fun and bright colors and embellishments in the kit. The Pinkfresh Up in the Clouds items were perfect for this summer layout.

This photo holds a special place for me. This fall, I went back to work...first time I had been back full time since having our first daughter 8 years ago. I was feeling all kinds of emotions...I was excited, terrified, guilty, name it, I was feeling it. So, the kiddos and I spent that last week spending as much time as we could together...and this day at the lake was one of my favorites from that week.

I snapped this photo as they were walking down to the water, and it just hit me how much was about to change for us...and how hard, but hopefully good it was going to be.

Now, the school year is almost over, and I am so looking forward to having the summer to spend everyday with these three sweeties, and have another summer just as good ( if not better) than the last one was! :)

Have a great day, and take time to create something you love!
